Community Critter Care Township Dog Show 2015

Township Dog Show

On Saturday 3rd October, Community Critter Care hosted a Township dog show in Rethabiseng, section 5. The day was a great success, with over 50 animals and participants taking part in the event.

Each participant was given a new leash for their dog, with old and broken leashes taken away to be discarded. A highlight was the goody bags which contained treats for the dogs and their owners- handed out at registration.

The judging took place with Delia Karayiannis, Mr & Mrs Kruger and Andrew Kekana (SPCA) judging the animals on their condition, behaviour with handler, social behaviour of the dog and general questions about their dogs.

The day ended off with a play by Danny and Charmaine from African Blessings highlighting the importance of animal care and treatment of animals. The prize-giving followed, with prizes being awarded to Stanley and his dog Coby for Best Puppy on Show, Jabulile and his dog Blackey for Best Adult Dog on Show, Dalisiwe and her dog Whitey for Best Overall Condition, Dan with his dog Blackey won Best Handler and Best on Show- First Prize. Rebecca and her dog Fiona won Runner-up Best on Show. All participants walked away with a 2kg bag of dog food and a medal for participating in the dog show.

We were very pleased with the turn out of the dog show for 2015. A big thank-you to NoWhala Tours & VIP Express for sponsoring the entire Community Critter Care Township Dog Show, without your help none of this could be have been possible.

Thank-you to Yvette Harms for all your hard work and effort put in to make the dog show a success. And also thank you to African Blessings staff who helped set up the tents and arenas for the dog show.

We were very happy that Rochelle Pauer (FoodCorp), Gerda Potgieter (Devoted) and Graeme Campbell (Streeknuus)enjoyed this wonderful day with us.

But most of all we would like to extend a big thank-you to Theresa and Danny from African Blessings. They have been working incredibly hard with the animals in Rethabiseng and have seen the incredible improvements so far. We are so proud that their hard work in the community is paying off.

We are so looking forward to the 2016 dog show as we believe that we will see even greater results.
